Algae Streaking to Clean Siding.

This three story vinyl siding home had heavy algae growth covering large areas of the exterior, leaving the siding looking dark, dirty, and weathered. We performed a full soft wash treatment to safely remove the organic growth and restore the appearance of the home without relying on high pressure.

What was happening

Algae streaking like this is extremely common on the Olympic Peninsula, and it isn't cosmetic — it's a living organism (usually Gloeocapsa magma, the same algae responsible for the dark streaks seen on roofs) feeding on moisture that collects along siding seams. Multi-story walls that stay shaded or catch less direct sun tend to show it worst, because the moisture has nowhere to evaporate quickly.

Our approach

This was a professional soft wash, not a high pressure blast. It is the same proven approach we use on every house we clean.

We applied a biodegradable solution specifically designed to break down and eliminate organic growth, using low pressure and professional soft washing equipment to safely clean the siding. Our equipment allowed us to reach all three stories from the ground without the need for ladders, helping us clean efficiently while minimizing unnecessary contact with the home.

Before we began, the landscaping around the foundation was thoroughly pre-wet and protected. We then carefully applied and rinsed the treatment, leaving the siding clean without the risks associated with high pressure washing.
